Magic as Magic.  This is my life long study.  When one begins to study magic there is always someone saying don't do this don't do that.  Why do people want to study magic if there are all of the don'ts.

 Magic is neither Good, nor Evil, nor White, nor Black.  Magic is just Magic.  Magic allows me to do certain things that I would normally take others along with for assistance.  When I need certain abilities I can either learn them or I can apply enough magic to ensure that the job is done.  Most of the time it is easier to learn the new skill rather than use magic.

 Magical power, for those who want to argue the point, Is available to all who wish to access it.  However  I personally do not want a nuclear power plant to do ordinary things around my house.  Magical power is like that of a nuclear power plant plugged into your whole house with no restrictions.  I can clean my house however I would need to replace the vaccume cleaner on a daily basis.  I can dry my hair if the hairdryer would just stop breaking every second.  The breaks on this system is the caster.

The inital reason for the don'ts is this allows the caster to think about something before doing it.  Would a caster be comfortable with someone else mucking about in their head?  Would the caster be better served using a flashlight rather than causing a solar flare just for light?  Would destroying a mountain range be good for the caster or would it just cause more problems somewhere else?  These are some of the things a caster must remember when casting a spell.

Finally as an old master of mine once said to me "Have fun and harm no one else."  Which means to me do what you want but make sure that the papers never hear about you.
