Hey ladies, I probably wont ever stop watching horror flicks but I just watched the movie "paranormal activity". At first it was very cheesy and then became the complete reenactment of what I believe an evil entity would be. Very scary. Anyway, I haven't read the symbol but I have read Dan Browns other books which are all based on the same theme. I actually love books that are based on secret societies and religious sects that hide information etc.... I believe wholly in the Illuminati, Knights of the Templar, The Freemasons, etc.. I also definitely believe that the major religions of the world do have things they keep hidden for the basic fact that if the truth came out it would blow their theories and doctrines right out of the water and not only would it shake the faith of millions, it would empty their pockets immensely also. That is another reason I love Magic because there is no golden rule that says you have to belong to believe. Yes, some form groups with names etc... but its not mandatory and everyone is pretty much accepted. I claim Wicca but I dont adhere to all of the traditional doctrines and I love that you can do what works for you and no one cares as long as your doing whats right. I am not judging anyone elses religion but I do have the strong belief that most major religions were started as an easy way to control the masses in the name of GOD. What better way to get people to do your bidding then to tell them it is what GOD wants or that they will be punished if they dont? Anyway, I am off again to school. Online tonight, thank Goddess. I am not up for traveling in this weather. I will see you all soon and let me know if there is any interesting readings you think I would like. If you guys are into fiction, there is a series of books called "The Hollows" by Kim Harrison. They feature a witch named Rachel Morgan who lives with a vampire and they are bounty hunters for supernatural beings. It is based in Cincinnati, where humans and supernatural beings co exist with laws and such. It is very amusing, insightful, fun and has some bits of magical truth. I am about to get the latest book. Anyway, let me know if you have already read some, or any of Tate Holloway's Garnet Lacey series? Good Night.
Have a blessed and wonderful evening.

if you like those books then you want to read 'The Symbols'.it doesn't have that much about the church like the first two books and it centers about the 'Great acient Mysteries'which the Masons hold the secret too. Basically it's about the persuded of the "mind over matter".

Hello, I just got a fictional book by Jim Butcher call the Dresden Files. It is about a wizard in our time who advertises P.I. services as a wizard. It sounded a little cheesy at first but amazingly enough it is very funny and entertaining. What I like most about this book is that while the story line is completely fictional as are the mystical implications, the spiritual and magical applications are not. I dont mean that he know what the elements stand for etc.. Any one can find that info on the internet, I mean that the author has a real and thorough knowledge of the workings of magic and is very crafty with weaving them into his story line. I really cant explain it better than that. For example, the wiccan version of making a spell "GO" are to use vervain, but in his version he uses the shavings of the wing feathers of a bird. Sounds simple enough but when reading it, you just kind of get the feeling that you are doing the spell and that it will and must work. His talk of understanding the laws of the universe are very subtle but very very meaningful. I really cant put this book down and will be sad to see it finished. I hope to get another soon. I hope that if it pleases you, that you get a chance to read it, maybe you will see what I mean. Thanks for the suggestions by the way.
LOL

Have a blessed eve and more...

The "Dresden Files" series is a cracking good read and worth sticking with when Butcher flirts with orthodox religion about half way through the stories.

The last one published was particularly good, drawing together all sorts of incomplete threads from the previous titles. There's a new one out next month by the way.

Romana, many of these stories are written in a comic book style and therefore appeal particularly to younger men. They also suffer in places from the "just when things couldn't get any worse" syndrome that permeates comic books, and stretches credulity at times. But they are worth persevering with for the pay off later in the series.

By the way, there was also a neat little tv series based on them a few years ago, although it differed significantly from the books it was still quite entertaining.

Enjoy, but don't take them too seriously.
