Belief and Superstition

Superstition as defined by the mainstream cultural dictionaries, is a belief that objects or occurrences hold a specific meaning even though there is no logical seeming cause for such belief. Superstition is often considered to be beliefs only held and practiced by those ignorant of the workings of the scientific world.

But what are some of these so-called illogical superstitions? Simple ones like bad luck to walk under a ladder are not so illogical if viewed as an old warning that something may drop on your head. Coming out of a building culture which often used stone to create their architecture should serve as enlightenment for the seed of this belief.

Throwing salt over one's shoulder began in the ancient past as a purifying ritual. Salt has the ability to absorb negative etheric energy so that, once removed from the body of the magician, it and the negativity enclosed could be cast away. As the millennia turned this practice has devolved into a mere 'good luck' charm.

Superstition begins to take on monumental proportions when you begin to explore the potential illogic of religions. Every human has the ability to at least feel and recognize that there is some divine force within the makeup of the universe. The practitioners of magic consciously seek this power in order to help form a more desired life for themselves and others. You cannot stick this 'god force' in a test tube and prove its existence, so it does fall under the scientific definition of superstition. This still does not prevent the majority of humans from accepting this belief.

Those who choose a path of magic and witchcraft discover that the laws governing the manipulation of etheric and psychic energy still follow set rules. That these energies do not follow a physical logic is merely a part of their nature. In many magic workings a seemingly illogical action must be performed in order for a specific result to be obtained. Does this qualify the action as a superstition?

We know that thought can create form. That a strong will can manipulate these forces and produce a specific effect on the material world is an established fact within the Craft. A large number of people putting their soul-energy into a specific belief can empower that concept to the point it can develop an independent existence greater than the individual's belief. It is through this process of thought-creation that the 'gods' are formed as facets of the divine energy in order to focus it on specific values and attributes.

There is no scientific 'proof' that anything divine intercedes on our behalf. Even the existence of the cultural 'great beards in the sky' is considered superstition by the totally material. However, the power of belief does create specific energy patterns that can influence the lives and destinies of those who insist on believing in them. Those who undertake the magical arts realize the underlying reality of these concepts and will use their belief in them to best advantage.

So it would seem that superstition is mostly misunderstood belief. For those who have not tested the cause and effect of such superstitions or inquired into the past for the possible reasons these ideas were brought into the public consciousness, anything that does not operate on merely mechanistic logic must be void of real value. For them, holding onto the belief that science has all the answers creates a superstition in itself.

There is nothing we can do to help you other than to teach you. But I will say that if all you want is money and power then you are coming at this from the wrong angle. That path leads to destruction. Plus there is a certain insincerity to your posts here. You want something else so how about being honest for a change? Tell us what you really want.

FIRST OFF THIS IS JUST MY OPINION BUT I BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO ALTER YOUR FUTURE TO A CERTAIN POINT. I DON'T THINK THAT YOUR LIFE'S PATH IS WRITTEN IN STONE. SECONDLY I KNOW THAT PREMONITIONS ARE REAL AND I DON'T THINK THAT PEOPLE MAKE THEM UP.

I agree with Romana to a point.
You can alter your lifes path, NOTHING is written in stone untill it is in the past. And Yes, premonitions are real.

It is my experience though that if you dream a thing, it will more than likely happen. I experience this rather often. Dreams I had years ago will suddenly be coming true right before my eyes, in exactly the manner I dreamt them. untill you figure out how to deal with it, it can be rather disconcerting. Knowing that you are watching the future turn into the past.
