Despite the continuing controversy that surrounds the well-known Ouija board, it is still an often-effective tool for divination. When used carefully and properly its use can provide a vast array of hidden information and help. That it is the primary choice of those who do not know the correct way to deal with matters of the spiritual realm is the main reason it has obtained such a bad reputation.
Basically the Ouija board is a simple tool that provides a focus for one's energies at a point which is easy for spirit entities to interact. Since it is often difficult for such etheric energy beings to manipulate matter on the material world, the lightweight planchette and spillover energy from the operator's aura allow easier movement of the physical mass of the object for relaying messages. The Ouija board is but a tool and like any tool can be applied for good or bad.
There are a number of entities that seem to be drawn to the Ouija board. The spirits of discorporate humans can use this tool as a means of contacting still living family and friends. It is possible for various other non-human spirit entities to access the board and pass on information as well. Herein lies the greatest weakness in the use of this popular divination tool. It is often no easier to determine if the entity you are communicating with is being truthful and helpful or lying and malevolent than it is when talking to another still-living human.
As with any spirit communications it is necessary to draw up a protective shield around yourself before manipulating the Ouija board. A prayer, blessing or protective spell will help drive off any malignant presence that may attempt to use the board to pass on harmful information. Cleansing and purifying the board with sea-salt water or other purifying substance will help immunize it against malevolent entities. For the casual, uninitiated user this lack of spiritual protection tends to leave them wide open for influence by spirits, both human and other. For the magic or Witchcraft practitioner the danger of deception is greatly reduced with proper caution.
That the Ouija board can be used as a doorway between the realms of material existence and the spiritual, etheric realm means that, despite what Parker Brothers say, it is not a toy and what you do with it is not a game. Improper use can allow dark entities greater access to this plain of existence and can make it easier for them to use the unwary person to act on their behalf.
There are cases where it seems that such malevolent spirits have been able to use the Ouija board to 'possess' a person though this is not the precise term for their creating an overwhelming influence on their human victim. There is always the fact of human free will that must be taken into consideration. Very few entities exist that can force you to do something you are not at least subconsciously willing to do anyway.
One should always keep their guard up a bit and rely on their instincts when contacting a spirit entity through the use of a Ouija board. If you feel warmth and a comforting presence around you as you communicate then you should be able to believe and trust your respondent. If you feel uncomfortable or there is nervousness surrounding you then it is best to quickly call on protective spirits to drive the dark ones away and cease using the board.
That many of the wandering spirits of the deceased are merely seeking some companionship should not be forgotten. While you may not always get earthshaking information from these spirits, it can still be an enjoyable exercise to talk with them. Many are eager to help in whatever ways they can to pass on information to help the friendly communicant. The Ouija board is not a thing to be feared. Used properly it is no more or less dangerous than talking to a stranger on the telephone.
