The Cornerstones of Power

Regardless of the specific path you choose to travel in your magical life, there are a few basic concepts that must be reinforced and meshed together to make your workings strong. Early instructors have called these four principles "The Witches Pyramid". This powerful Tower of Magical Ability consists of three sides labeled, Imagination, Will, and Faith. At the center, holding it all together is the essential element of Secrecy.

For anyone who seeks to learn the ways of manipulating the forces of reality and bending them to their desires, a vivid Imagination is of paramount necessity. It is through your imagination that you will be able to visualize and see just what you are seeking and the ways by which it will materialize. Without a strong and creative imagination you will have difficulty focusing your energies. Unfocused desires will leave too wide an interpretation for the manifest results of your work. You must create within your mind exactly what it is you want or you may end up with something that, while somewhat fitting the definition of your request, will not be what you actually wanted.

Once you have developed a precise image of the thing you are seeking to accomplish, you must make sure that you have a flaming hot will of iron to push that image into being. Merely wanting something will not usually be enough to nudge it into being. A strong power of will requires a passion for your desire. This element is at its strongest during the actual working of the spell you are attempting. Even if the outcome is something you personally think is of trivial consequence, you must learn to focus it as the single most important thing in your universe at that moment.

Hand in hand with a strong Will is the necessity for Faith in what you are doing. If you are attempting to manifest something that, deep down inside, you really feel is impossible or unlikely then you have already defeated your own effort. If you do not have the rock-hard conviction that what you are doing is going to work, then it most likely will not or will at best provide only mediocre results.

Do not take your work in vain. Do not perform a spell or incantation without totally expecting to receive the requested outcome. Have such a great Faith that, once you have performed the spell, do not even think about it again or wonder if it is going to work. Such an attitude of worry is the quickest way to negate your effort. Go about your life afterwards with the serenity to patiently watch your request materialize in the world around you.

In this particular age where some societies are more tolerant of non-conventional lifestyles and beliefs, secrecy does not overtly seem to be of as much importance as it once was. There are several very important reasons to make secrecy the glue that binds your power together.

It may be true that your local government no longer has a problem with what you are doing but how about your neighbors? The penal system is full of people who felt that their beliefs and desires overruled what the laws of their land stipulated. That the law says you may practice as you will, that will not help much against a torch and pitchfork wielding mob on your doorstep late at night. Remember that what humans don't understand they normally fear, and what they fear they usually try to kill.

On a more subtle level, the low-grade inherent psychic abilities of even the most unbelieving and untrained human can put up obstacles of negativity to your work. All belief creates some etheric energy. However strong your convictions are, enough people either knowingly or subconsciously assuring themselves that what you are attempting will not work can create enough distortion on the psychic ether to dilute or corrupt the wave-form of power you cast out.

A well-developed sense of secrecy about your workings can have the further advantage of increasing your reputation. If something extraordinary happens and you are asked if you did it, smile and say nothing. This aura of mystique can enhance the belief of the general population about your abilities and diminish the effects of their negative thoughts about you and your magical abilities.

Excellent article! Well said! I definitely agree that one should keep quiet about their magick workings...as well as their particular spiritual leanings; especially if they happen to live in a small podunk town that is way to over christianized and the people there don't seem to know that burning their local witch is a badthing. smilies/wink.gif

Not everyone knows that science backs up what witches have known for centuries..that everything is nothing more vibrating particles; the difference is the vibrational rate (speed). The Law of Cause and Effect shows us the vibrational rate is determined by emotion which is the catalyst for how enery particles via thoughts are transformed and manifest into reality. The outcome is determined by the strength of a singular focused emotion. When others witness this, it is with awe; yet it is no more then any human is capable. We should not have to hide our knowledge and wisdom of the ages just because the rest of the world submitted to the dumbing down of America; I refuse to base my actions on how others may react to them.

I'm with you 100%, Clara. I have found it quite enjoyable to watch as the closer the physicists come to grips with Chaos Theory, the closer they get to finding out how 'Magic' works.

I would prefer to be as high-profile as I can fly also. I have found though that it is still a dangerous thing to do in some places. Humanity has been subjected to at least a two thousand year pogrom to eliminate psychic ability from the gene pool and those easily swayed by the perpetrators of that effort are still in the majority.

My statement was specifically intended to get across that one should 'be careful out there'!

Oh guys!! If you think the advances in Chaos Theory are cool. Check out quantum theory, and string theory.
The laws of entanglment, and the collapsing of wave functions and how it works will blow your mind. And then there are the energies residing on the plank scale. Science has covered lots of ground.
